Barnard, Dudley 1915

Dudley Barnard. Died 10 February 1915

Dudley Henry Lionel Barnard was born in London in 1894 the son of Lionel Henry and Charlotte Edith  (nee Beyfus) Barnard. His family seem to have lived for some time in Hove, Sussex and then Regent’s Park in London.
Dudley attended Wellington College in Crowthorne and in 1911 his parents were living at Frog Hall, Wokingham. They had 5 servants but seem to have no other children living with them though Lionel had a brother Kenneth and a sister Marjorie.

He was commissioned in the Royal Horse Artillery though seems to

have served with the Royal Field Artillery too. He died 0n 10th February 1915 whilst serving in the 130th Battery RFA in France

This was a large hospital centre at the time and whilst many troops were transferred from here to ships taking them back to England for further treatment sadly many like Dudley died within sight of England.
