Edwin Tyrell. Died 27 May 1915
Edwin was born in 1894 to father, Thomas and mother Elizabeth in Clewer, Bershire. He was the youngest born and had four siblings, three brothers and one sister (Edith was the eldest). By the age of 16, Edwin had become a painter like the rest of the brothers and his foreman father. His parents lived on the Broadmoor Road in 1901 and later at St Michaels Cottages in Wokingham.
Edwin joined the 1st/4th Battalion and was soon on his way to France. By May 1916 he had been either taken ill or injured and died at home on the 27th of that month. Although we cannot be sure, there had been some considerably vicious fighting for the 1st/4th’s during the middle of May and it is possible he was caught up there.
