Collyer, Henry 1918

Henry Collyer. Died 9th August 1918

Henry was born in the Newbury area (Bignor) in about 1888; one of 7 siblings, to Joseph and Maria Collyer.

In 1901 the family were still living in nearby Speen. By 1911 Maria was a widow and Henry still lived with her in the newbury area. Some of his siblings were born in Wokingham so maybe they had family here too.

Henry enlisted in Wokingham into the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and served with the 12th Battalion London Regiment (Rangers)

Dear sir, could you please check if this was a Henry Gilbert Collyer born in Wokingham in 1882 to Joseph and Sarah Anne they did live at mathews green cottages Wokingham. There is some discrepancy regarding some male names….brothers Frederick W, Alfred James, Albert Arthur,Frank and Willie these are mainly born in Wokingham . In St. Sebastians church yard there is a Pte Willie Collyer(1916) buried with his mum Annie that died prior in 1906 aged 51. Sarah Anne could of dropped her christian name she was born in 12/03/1855.
