Sidney Bryant. Died 31 May 1916
As yet, we do not know anything about Sidney’s family nor how or why they came to Wokingham. He was born on 11th May 1885 in Paddington and quite probably joined the navy as a boy. A Sidney Bryant born in Paddington is certainly serving as an apprentice in the navy in Devonport in 1901.
What we do know is that Sidney was killed on board HMS Queen Mary at the Battle of Jutland on 31 st May 1916. He was by then a Petty Officer. His name is on the Portsmouth Memorial to the Naval personnel who have no known graves.
