Frederick James Bourton. Died 31st May 1916
Frederick was born in 1891, the eldest child of Alfred and Ellen. In 1901 the family lived at 87 Waterloo Road, next door to Thomas Bosher and his family. By 1911 the family lived at number 2 Waterloo Road and only Frederick’s 4 younger brothers were living at home.
Frederick joined the Royal Navy and served on board HMS Shark where he was killed on 31st MAY 1916 at the Battle of Jutland.
After the war his parents lived at the White Horse, Wokingham. Still a pub today. Frederick is buried in Sweden.
I am trying to research Marine Frederick Hogburn who is my father-in-laws father.
I have found an entry – “Royal Marine Light Infantry,Hogburn,F,Pte,Plough Lane,Wokingham,Berkshire,England” on the its your history site – http://www.its-your-history.com/military/regiments/berkshire-and-the-war/berkshire-and-the-war-volume-1-surnames-by-regiment.html?showall=1
