Charles Clements. Died 18 August 1916
Charles was the eldest son of Charles and Ellen and was born in Easthampstead in about 1898. Charles snr was a general building labourer and they lived in Plough Lane, London Road.
Charles joined the Royal Berkshire Regiment 8th battalion and served as a private ( 18754). He died during the battle of the Somme though it is unclear what happened to him as by this date his battalion were back out of the front line.
He died on 18th August 1916 and his name is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial as he has no known grave.
