George Eales. Died 15 April 1917
George was the elder brother of Charles Eales and died only a few months before him in 1917.
He was born in 1887 to Ann and George in Basingstoke. Unusually the family moved around the area a bit as the children all seem to have been born in different towns. In 1901 they lived in Wokingham and by 1911 George had joined the Army and was serving as a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery (19th battery) overseas. It has not yet been possible to trace his service history but by the time he died he was part of 252 brigade and died on 15th April 1917 and because he has no known grave he is commemorated on the Arras memorial.
