Charles Miles. Died 14 July 1916

Charles William Miles was born in January 1890 to John and Sarah Ann (nee Partridge) in Hurst, Berkshire.  John was a carter on a farm and Charles was one of 9 siblings. In 1911 Charles was 21 and was working as a cowman.
We do not know what took Charles to Northampton, but he enlisted there into the Northamptonshire Regiment 6th Battalion number 14619.

Charles was killed on the 6th Battalion’s attack on Trones Wood  on 14th July1916 at the Somme. He is buried in Bernafay Wood Cemetery.
