Treacher, Frank 1916.

Frank Treacher. Died 28 August 1916

Frank was born in 1887 to father, William and mother Ellen in Oxford, Oxfordshire. He was the third born and had three siblings, all brothers (up to 1891). By the age of 24, Frank had already become a serviceman, as a Driver with the Royal Field Artillery. His parents lived at Bearwood Lodge, Sindlesham in 1916.
Frank joined the RFA sometime prior to 1911 and was soon on his way to Mesopotamia (now Iraq) after the outbreak of war. By 1916 he had been killed on the 28th of August 1916, during fighting around Baghdad.

In 1919, The Reading Mercury reports:

‘Saturday Sept 20th 1919. Notification has just been received from the military authorities by Mr & Mrs Treacher of The Lodge, Embrook House, late of Keep Hatch, Wokingham that their son, the late Driver Frank Treacher, RFA who died a prisoner of war is buried in the prisoner of war cemetery at RAGHTCHE, Asia Minor 20 miles NNW of  Aleppo’. Our thanks to Jim Bell for this piece of research.
