Potter, George 1917

George Potter died on 15th December 1917.
Anna Matthews, a Great Grand Niece of the Potter brothers and sisters, tells us of George’s story:
“George was born in Sandhurst, Berkshire, on 20th October 1887 to father, Charles and mother Fanny. He was the fourth born and had at least 10 siblings, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. By the age of 13 had become a port errand boy. His parents lived in Embrook Cottage, Wokingham in 1901 and at Toutley Cottages, King Street, Wokingham in 1911. He was married to Mary May Potter. George joined the Royal Navy for WW1 and was employed as Stoker Petty Officer in the engineroom of HMS Liverpool. On 15th February 1917, he sadly died from disease. He was buried at Brindisi Communal Cemetery in Italy and later moved to Bari Cemetery, Italy”.
