William Hewett. Died 18 August 1916
William Charles Edward was one of 5 siblings, born in Wallingford in 1891 to Thomas and Emma. By 1901 the family lived in Warfield. In 1911 Thomas was an insurance agent and they had moved to London Road, Wokingham.
William enlisted in Wokingham into the 1/4th battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment (number 2446) though we do not know when. He was killed on the Somme on 18th August 1916 and his name is on the Memorial at Thiepval.
