William Munday. Died 13 December 1915
William was born in 1886 in Lewes, Sussex to father John, and mother Eleanor. He was the first born and had two siblings, one brother and a sister. By the age of 25, William had become a butler to the Gething family at 47 Lancaster Gate. His father’s family came from Watlington in Oxforshire and sometime prior to 1891, moved to Lewes, where John was a Gracer’s assistant. By 1911 they moved to Crowthorne in Berkshire where John was a groom at a local livery.
William joined the Glosters around September 1914 and by July 1915 was on his way to France. In December 1915 he had been killed in the Bethune area, an active part of the Western Front.
