Arthur R White. Died 25 June 1915.
Arthur Reynold White was born in 1882 in Finchampstead and grew up with four sisters and two brothers. He joined as a regular soldier in the 1st Battalion of the Queens Regiment (Royal West Surrey) and was to die on the 25th June 1915, in India. At the time of writing we do not know if he was killed or died from one of the many outbreaks of cholera at the time. He is buried in Lucknow Cantonment Cemetery and as it is not able to be maintained his name is placed in the Memorial at Chennai Cemetery. Cantonments were military stations placed over various parts of India and also held the bodies of those who died. At the time of his death, his mother and father, William and Mary Ann, were living at number 60 Peach Street.
