Hello Keith. A mutual friend of ours has told be about your long family connections in Wokingham. It would be nice to meet up and have a chat about some of the connections. Frank signing up for the Sussex Regiment in Eastbourne caught my eye as I was living in Eastbourne when I put the research together. There is a superb history of the regiment at the Redoubt on the seafront there. Kind regards

  2. Sam Evans says:

Frank Goddard (killed 1916) was the brother of my Grandmother Alice Evans (nee Godard), late of Midsomer Norton. She married William Evans, a veteran who served with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire light infantry. They lived near Sandringham and then at White Waltham. Their oldest son was named Frank.
In June I intend to visit the battlefield site and the Dud corner memorial.
